Brick Colonial / Home Addition
As big entertainers with a growing family, Ryan and Arianna needed to modify their cramped kitchen to fit their lifestyle. As two working parents, they also wanted a home gym to fit exercise into their lives more easily and a private home office for Ryan. With a new baby on the way, they wanted to get the work done fast.
What We Did
After completing the design and finalizing details, Rebel's construction team got to work in the New England winter, right after Christmas.
We were able to pour a new foundation, despite ground freeze, thanks to an insulated foundation technology called ICF. We removed the tiny kitchen and extended the home's footprint on both the basement and main levels. On the main floor, we created an expansive kitchen with radiant floors, tons of skylights, custom cabinets, and an enormous kitchen island perfect for food prep and gathering. We even included a replicated booth from the clients' favorite diner!
In the newly expanded basement, we added a home gym and an office space for Ariana and Ryan to enjoy. We also designed an exterior entertaining area, executed by a landscaping company, with seating and an outdoor television. The historic brick of the original structure blends beautifully with the modern doors, windows, and black paneling of the addition. There are lots of good times in this family's future—and we have already preplanned a phase two addition for further down the road.
